22 things to do while 22
September 2024
Turning 22 doesn’t have the same “big birthday” feeling that 18, 21, or even 30 might carry. But I’ve come to realize that every birthday is significant in its own way. It’s another year of life, a chance to reflect, and a chance to set new intentions for growth. As I turn 22, I can’t help but look back at my 21st year with a sense of gratitude. This past year wasn’t easy, but it was full of growth—physically, mentally, and emotionally. I feel thankful for all the challenges, lessons, and experiences that shaped me. It's been a year of real transformation, and I’m ready to embrace the next chapter with a new set of goals in mind.
With all the growth I've experienced at 21, I’m excited to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. So, here’s my list of 22 things to do while I’m 22—some fun, some serious, but all meaningful to me in some way. These goals are about pushing myself out of my comfort zone, trying new things, and continuing the journey of self-improvement.
1. Ride on the back of a motorcycle
2. Get a new tattoo
3. Hike a 14-er (or at least attempt)
4. Go to a winery with some friends
5. Read at least 22 books
6. Save up $2,200 (just for fun)
7. Travel more
8. Try out yoga or pilates consistently
9. Change up my hair
10. Go to a professional sports game
11. Throw a girls' night
12. Sew a new quilt
13. Start (and hopefully finish) a new passion project
14. Visit a castle
15. Go on one solo date each month
16. Grab some friends and go go-kart racing
17. Spend 24 hours with no internet access
18. Spend more intentional time with my friends and family
19. See a play, broadway show, or opera
20. Update my ID
21. Go on a hot air balloon
22. Do something for others
I’ve always believed that having something to look forward to, and setting goals, gives life purpose. These goals aren’t just tasks to check off a list—they’re about pushing myself, embracing new experiences, and continuing the growth I’ve started in the past year. Some of them may seem ambitious, but I’m determined to make them happen. 22 has already started with so much promise, and I’m ready to see what’s next. I’m incredibly grateful for where I am and for everything I’ve learned so far, and I can’t wait to keep moving forward.
Here’s to 22 years, new lessons, exciting adventures, and continuing to grow.
